This past weekend I had the honor of being a guest at Memphis Black Fashion Week 901: The Shows’ Couture Day hosted by Angelo “Stixx” Mathews.
Stixx, originally from South Memphis, now resides in New York. He graduated from Hillcrest High School. Afterwards, he attended Lane College and completed his degree at Paine College. Stixx has been working in the fashion industry for ten years and has continued his career in New York for the past six and a half years. Anyone who has the pleasure of speaking with the Stixx will soon realize that he was made for this.
This past weekend Stixx hosted MBFW 901: The Shows at The Haven Memphis, where designers in Memphis had the opportunity to display their work. Designers included Demetrius Blayde, creator of Demi Blvck and Ashton Hall of Ashton Hall Collection.

Demetrius, a native of Memphis, has been designing for seven years and has made a name for himself in the fashion industry. He has an eye for fashion and a passion for design. Gifted is an understatement. His collection is fierce and sexy. He brings culture to creativity with rhinestones, tassels, and Asian-inspired prints. When speaking with him, it was evident that he enjoyed designing and displaying his work for others to see.

Ashton Hall, originally from Kingston, Jamaica, has been a designer for twenty-five years. Watching his mother sew growing up, Ashton began designing at the age of fifteen. He brings us a professional flare of neutrals, along with a taste of Africa. Now residing in Little Rock, Arkansas, he continues to introduce his designs all over the world.
These men are dedicated and inspiring!
