The Office @ Uptown … how fitting! Located in Downtown Memphis, this workspace setting, is truly one of Memphis’ best kept secrets, for sure. During my visit today, I was greeted with jokes and laughter by the friendly staff and owner, Valerie Peavy. They kindly escorted us to the counter, where we placed our order.

I ordered the Uptown Classic Turkey Panini on Ciabatta, which included sliced turkey breast topped with cheddar cheese, fresh spinach, sliced tomatoes with a spread of chipotle mayo. I ordered my favorite beverage, sweet tea, and some chocolate chip cookies.

Our food arrived ten minutes later. My sandwich was delicious! I have a love for all things spicy or Cajun, and the chipotle gave the sandwich a kick! Now for the REAL tea… it was southern sweet for real! It was cold but not too sweet — just like I like it! The cookies were moist. If it were not for the tea, they would have gone well with a glass of milk.

There were computers, desks for both — individuals and groups, art, and shelves of books. The atmosphere made us feel very comfortable. Customers were eating, socializing, working on laptops and reading books. It was as if we had permission to eat in the library or better yet, the teachers’ lounge. For individuals who need a getaway, working professionals, students, or those who plan group meetings grab your books and your laptop and head to “The Office”!
